10 Craft Ideas to do With Gingerbread House Coloring Pages

A gingerbread house is that classic holiday item that all kids love.

Here are 10 inexpensive, fun, and creative craft ideas you can do with your completed coloring page!

1. Beautiful Gingerbread House Wall Art

Three gingerbread houses will be needed for this craft, and they should all be colored and cut out separately.

On a bright blue piece of poster board, arrange the three houses to look like a tiny village.

Add small embellishments, such as candy canes, miniature Christmas trees, and Christmas ornaments, to decorate the front of the houses.

These can be made from construction paper or poster board, and the result is a beautiful, colorful piece of holiday wall art.

2. Gingerbread House Greeting Card

What could be a holiday greeting card better than an adorable gingerbread house?

For this craft, have the youngster fold a small piece of poster board in half, like a card.

Next, a gingerbread house should be colored and cut out in its entirety, and glued to the front of the card.

On the inside, the child can get creative and make a fireplace scene using crayons or markers, making sure to leave enough room for a holiday greeting!

3. Build a 3D Gingerbread House

For this craft, turn a small box on its side, and place a stiff piece of cardboard across the middle to create the illusion of looking into a two-story house.

The gingerbread house should be cut from the coloring page once it’s finished and laminated to the “back wall” of the house.

Individual pieces can be cut from other gingerbread coloring pages to decorate the outside.

Finally, small figures can be cut from construction paper to complete the cozy scene in the house.

4. Happy Holidays Gingerbread Village

For this fun classroom activity, have the students color and cut out their gingerbread houses and laminate them with contact paper.

Next, wrap a long, flat piece of craft styrofoam in green felt and cut tiny slits across the top.

Have the kids staple craft sticks to their cutouts and push them down into the styrofoam to create a lifelike gingerbread house village.

5. Design an Unique Gingerbread House Scene

For this craft, the child should start with a large piece of poster board, to which the finished gingerbread house can be glued.

Once this is accomplished, it can be decorated with glitter, puffy paint, confetti, and felt, and the child can draw a surrounding scene.

Stickers can be used for stars, or a large moon can be cut from white or yellow construction paper.

The youngster can even draw Frosty the Snowman or Rudolph in the background!

6. Make a Gingerbread House Tree Ornament

Nothing could be more appropriate for a Christmas tree ornament than a gingerbread house.

Once the house is colored and cut from the page, it should be decorated with tiny candies, buttons, craft jewels, or anything that makes it pop!

Contact paper should be used to seal the house, and a small hole should be made at the top through which a bright green or red ribbon can be threaded.

Once it’s hung on the tree, it will look just like a store-bought ornament!

7. Gingerbread House Centerpiece

Give the child two quart-size and one pint-size milk containers, making sure they are rinsed and dried.

Let the youngster laminate them with gingerbread houses that have been cut from the finished coloring pages.

The natural shape of the milk carton at the top creates a perfect roof to which cotton can be added to give the illusion of snow.

The rest of the “houses” can be embellished with various craft supplies, and the small one can be placed in between the two taller ones for a wonderful Christmas centerpiece.

8. Give a Book a New Look

If your child has a favorite holiday story, but the cover has worn off or is faded, a gingerbread house coloring page is the perfect solution.

Have the youngster cut out a full-size gingerbread house and decorate it with craft paint, glitter, puffy paint, felt, or ribbons.

Use contact paper or glassine to carefully laminate the page, and then use Krazy glue to attach it to the front of the book for a brand-new look.

9. A House With a Chimney

For this cute craft, start with a tiny cardboard box.

Using several coloring pages, the youngster should cut out 3-4 gingerbread houses, and once they are finished, use them to laminate the sides of the box.

Another piece of posterboard can be used to make a simple A-frame roof and a thinner piece folded into a long rectangle for a “chimney.”

A craft flower or lollipop can be placed in the chimney for a cute centerpiece, or a stack of cotton balls can be added for the illusion of smoke!

10. Create a Multi-Photo Picture Frame

For this unique craft, have your youngster start with a gingerbread house featuring lots of windows.

These should be cut out, leaving blank spaces into which tiny photographs can be placed.

Alternatively, the child can draw the faces of people he or she knows or favorite cartoon characters in these spaces for a fun multi-photo picture frame.

This cute gingerbread house can be hung up or attached with magnets to a refrigerator.
